Choosing the Right Window Blinds

Picking out blinds for your windows isn’t rocket science, but there are a few things you need to take into consideration before making your purchase. One of the most important things to consider is the room where you will be using your blinds. If you are wanting to have your blinds installed in your kitchen, you may want vinyl or aluminum blinds. Both vinyl and aluminum are water repellant and easy to clean. On the other hand, it would be more suited for you to choose wooden window blinds for a bedroom, as they are more inviting and mesh better with bedroom decor.

5 ways plantation shutters benefit you and your home

Plantation Shutters not only add elegance and sophistication to any home, they may also increase the value of your home. Although Plantation shutters have a slightly larger investment upfront than some of the other window covering options, there are many benefits to you currently, as well as when it comes time to put your home up for sale.

5 ways plantation shutters benefit you and your home:

  1. Plantation shutters are low maintenance; requiring little to no upkeep. When properly cared for the average homeowner will only need to dust and wipe finger prints from their Plantation shutters.
  2. Because Stanfield’s shutters are custom fit to each window opening they are more energy efficient than other window covering options. Plantation shutters can help to reduce your energy bills by minimizing the amount of cooled or heated air leaking from your homes windows.
  3. Years ago Plantation shutters adorned only the most elite of homes. Today, your average homeowner can enjoy the affordability of Plantation shutters along with the look of exclusivity.
  4. Plantation shutters are a permanent feature to your home. Unlike other types of window coverings which need to be change every few years; shutters, when properly cared for, will not need to be changed out. This is a benefit for both you as the current homeowner and to the future owners of your home.
  5. Plantation Shutters give you the benefit to control the light as well as the view through your windows. A full variety of louver slat sizes from the traditional 1 ¼” louver up to 6 ½” louvers will compliment any décor you desire. Giving you a full range of light control as well as aesthetic appeal is just another wonderful benefit you receive when you have plantation shutters installed into your home.

Shutter Durability: It starts with design and quality materials

Stanfield shutters are flat-out more durable than those you’ll find sold by our competitors, which means our shutters last longer and need to be replaced and repaired less often. This, of course, saves you money, time, and worry.

Shutter Design and Durability

Our shutters are stronger. Because we offer slim-line horizontal-design louvers instead of oval louvers, our shutters have more meat on their edges, which makes the staples connecting the tilt rod to the louvers hold tighter and longer. Our louvers simply don’t break around the staples like oval louvers tend to do.

Slim Line Shutter Durability

Shutter Materials

Our HDF shutters are warp-free. We manufacture the entire spectrum of shutter types, from high-density fiberboard (HDF) to vinyl to natural hardwoods such as knotty alder and basswood. But for unbeatable durability, we recommend HDF shutters. It’s a technologically-advanced wood product that is warp-free, has a superior finishing surface, and is less expensive than either the natural hardwoods or the vinyl shutters.

Our shutters have tougher paints. We are one of the few shutter companies in Utah that use water-based paint, which is more resistant to UV damage and will not yellow like the conversion-varnish and lacquer-based paints that our competitors use. This means better protection for your shutters over the long run. Plus, our slim-line horizontal louvers are easier to sand than oval louvers, giving them a more smooth, consistent finish.
